Hello dear web,
I am back. Almost 4 years ago I stopped contributing to the as2lib, my last open source project. When ActionScript3 was released I didn’t see a point why to continue with the as2lib, that was highly optimized to deal with ActionScript2. Since I spent 2 years and a bit with the as2lib(often many days in a week) it was like killing ones dearest pet.
I needed a reset: so I started to read a lot of books. I intensified my Aikidō training, read myself into first Ajax Frameworks, threw them away and wrote my own. Tried out how it is to be your own boss by setting up Leichtgewicht as a company. Worked at some smaller and bigger web projects, glanced at the server side and programmed a Eclipse RPC application. I finally realized that dealing with numbers, handling clients and trying to keep up with technology is too much and I wanted to focus and to return to the community.
Coincidentally I met André Michelle after a long time at the “Flash in the Can” in Amsterdam last year and he could offer me a job at Hobnox which really just matched me. At Hobnox I first started for some weeks at the Audiotool but soon started to switch teams due to lack in men-count. I was kept busy with lots of work of many shapes.
Now that 2009 has come I finally managed to allow myself some spare time so I can try to see what I can do now for the community at times where ActionScript4 horrors ActionScript3 open source codes, 3D engines rise with Flash 10, the JavaScript engines of Webkit and Firefox keep on competing.
so much for now – happy to be back
Martin.
Woot woot!
Horray!
Welcome back! We missed you
